Stanley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The fire burning 18 miles northwest of Stanley is currently 5-percent contained. That according to the latest information from the Forest Service. The fire that started on July 27, 2012 has burned 91,987 acres officials say. There are 527 personnel, including 3 hand crews, 30 engines, and 6 helicopters working the fire burning in the Salmon-Challis National Forest.
Meanwhile, the Bench Fire is 100-Percent contained while the Halstead fire activity was moderated during yesterdays’ burning period due to the inversion and late afternoon rain. Crews have been prepping in the Valley Creek vicinity. They are staged and ready should fire make any further advance to the south. The east perimeter continues to hold along the 2006 Potato Fire burn scar. Dozers and feller-bunchers made significant progress building line and tying into the south boundary of the Potato Fire. An additional Type 1 helicopter joined the Halstead Fire aviation assets yesterday.

The following CAMPGROUNDS are closed due to the fire closure: Beaver Creek, Lola Creek, Marsh Creek Transfer, O’Brien, Josephus Lake, and campgrounds along the Salmon River from Lower Stanley to Indian Riffles.
