UPDATE: Halstead Fire Grows In Size
18 Miles Northwest Of Stanley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Halstead Fire scorched more acres this weekend. The fire has now claimed more than 91 thousand acres and remains at three percent containment.
Meanwhile, work on the Bench Fire has continued and it's now 85–percent contained. Firefighters hoped to have it completely contained by the end of the day.
ORIGINAL STORY: A community meeting is planned for 7p.m. Monday at Challis Middle School Auditorium. The Halstead Fire has now scorched 88,371 acres and remains at 3% containment.
Officials reported smoke to be thick overnight in many of the valleys surrounding the local fires. This results in poor air quality in many of the populated areas.
Bench Fire: 70% containment. On the north flank of the Halstead Fire, the fire moved towards Bernard Creek in the Vanity Lakes area. There was no growth near Trail Creek.
