Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Honoring individuals who have made a difference in their communities in improving health is the goal of the annual Health Heroes Awards.
Over the last decade, the South Central Community Public Health District has held this event.
Usually it's only a handful of individuals who are honored for their contributions to the health of their community.
However, this year the number of honorees has reached 12.
The District Health Director for South Central Health, Rene LeBlanc, explains what makes these individuals so special…
"It could be a wide range... it could be a community based organization... it could be individuals... it could be teams or small groups. They have all one thing in common in that they've worked hard and tirelessly over the years to improve the health of their community they live in."
Those who were recognized were nominated by other individuals in the community.
The award recipients received a certificate of their accomplishment along with a small glass trophy.
