Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A national organization recognized outstanding employers Thursday night. And it's all because of their support of those who serve in the military.

"I actually nominated him about a year ago," says Deputy David Ursino, Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Nominated His Boss.

Deputy David Ursino works for the Jerome County Sheriff's Office.

He's also a member of the United States Military.

He wants to show his boss appreciation.

Ursino explains, "I've been working with Sheriff Doug McFall for 3 and a half years now and he's always been supportive and I've had no problems with having to do my guard time."

The Employer Support Of The Guard And Reserve is an agency started by the Department Of Defense.

"The Department of Defense formed the ESGR with the purpose of us telling the employers, thank you very much," says M. Lynn Dunlap, Fifth District Chair, Employer Support Of The Guard And Reserve .

And that's just what they did in a ceremony Thursday evening.

"We have series of employers who have been nominated by their military personnel as outstanding employers and so we have DOD awards we're going to be passing out to them," explains Dunlap.

21 employers will receive the Patriotic Employer award for outstanding support of our military and the ESGR.

Sheriff Doug McFall, Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Award Winner says, "The awards...it's nice to be acknowledged but I think the limelight needs to go on our servicemen and women that are serving our country."

Military members nominated their bosses online for the award.

M. Lynn Dunlap, the Fifth District Chair of the ESGR, explains these bosses aren't just helping their employees, they're helping to serve our country.

"We need civilian employers that will assist them and making them employed as well as allowing them or assisting them in performing their military duties," says Dunlap.

"I think it really helps employers understand the difference they make of being supportive of their soldiers," says Ursino.

A little understanding to help our men and women in uniform succeed.

Other employers honored range from Pizza Hut to the City Of Twin Falls.

This is the first time an event has been held in the Magic Valley to honor all employers at once.
