How To Successfully Battle Holiday Stress
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) More and more people battle with stress and depression during the holidays, especially during the winter.
A local counselor says that comes from trying to live up to unrealistic expectations at this time of year. He says it's important to keep the holidays relatively simple, which will help reduce stress.
Dr. Eric F. Jones with Preferred Child and Family Services says, "The other things that cause stress are health or illness, and yet we still feel like we've got to perform. Our kids are grown up, but they're coming home. And so we've got to make the house just like it was back when."
Jones says you can make new positive holiday memories by doing things for and with other people. He says there are plenty of local opportunities, like serving in local kitchens. Jones says serving other people can help you de-stress your family and home.
