Malta, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) – Crews will begin resurfacing Interstate 84 in eastern Cassia County today Monday, June 2, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Drivers can expect lower speed limits and minor delays throughout the construction project.
Work will include grinding up about two inches of asphalt followed by paving two layers of new asphalt plantmix. The paving will be followed up by a chip-seal coat. The project will repair rutting and potholing as well as restore surface smoothness.
The project will resurface I-84 between the Sublett Interchange (Exit 245) and the Sweetzer Road Interchange (Exit 254). Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a speed-limit reduction to 65 mph and a 13-foot width restriction through the work zone.
Paving is expected to be complete by the end of June, with the seal coat to be completed by the end of July.
