Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) School might be out, but for teachers, the studying continues.

Hundreds of teachers and administrators across the state are attending i–STEM workshops.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. These workshops are hands–on.

As an example, at the College of Southern Idaho, groups toured the Renewable Energy Training System.

Officials say the courses are popular as more than one thousand registered, but only 400–plus were able to participate.

"There are so many teachers that want to get into this because it's a great professional development opportunity, but it is strictly voluntary and they're here on their own time...An opportunity to they get a rewards for it, they get a tablet, they get a tablet, they get a kit to take back to their classrooms to encourage their students in so there is a lot of opportunity for them," says John Hughes, Chair, Education Department at the College of Southern Idaho.

The four–day workshop comes to a close on Thursday. For more information, please click here.
