Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Law enforcement agencies around the state continue to look for distracted drivers. And those who text and drive also fit into this category.

The law went into effect on July first. If an officer catches you in the act, you could face an $85 fine.

Officers say texting while driving has resulted in numerous serious and fatal crashes and all it takes is a split–second.

And while the new law covers those behind the wheel who text...Idaho State Police say they see a whole gamut of distractions on the road.

"We see people texting and driving, eating and driving, we've seen people applying make–up, shaving, changing clothes while driving. The biggest thing we're cracking down on with the new texting law is texting itself;..However, it's just limitless how many distractions there are in a vehicle," adds Sgt. Andy Hitt, Idaho State Police.

Idaho is the 37th state to enforce the law.
