ID Lawmakers Consider Cursive Writing Measure
Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Do you think cursive writing should be writing in schools? Idaho lawmakers are debating the issue up in Boise.
A measure directing the State Board of Education to require cursive handwriting is headed for a full House vote. The measure unanimously passed the Chamber's Education Committee. But a representative from Jerome believes this is all a statement. "We're not trying to set another burden on schoolteachers, but I believe there are people in the school system right now that are cautious and careful in helping children write," says Rep. Maxine Bell, District 25. A Department of Education spokesperson says education officials would tentatively get behind the measure. Comments ( |
