ITD Preparing For Summer Road Construction

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Road construction season is just around the corner.

Idaho transportation officials are already gearing up for a busy summer.

"This is going to be a very busy summer throughout the region” said Nathan Jerke, Idaho Transportation Department.

Get ready for bumpy roads; summer road construction is almost here.

One of the largest projects will involve interstate 84 and the US 93 junction.

"There is going to be a new eastbound on-and-off ramp as well as a new bridge structure going over US-93 for the eastbound lanes for I-84” said Jerke.

Construction is expected to begin in May and last until October; drivers are expected to experience a ten to fifteen minute delay.

"A lot of the work will be taken place at night when our traffic numbers are the lowest, that's when the bridge will be removed” said Jerke.

Another project expected to cause a traffic delay, red cap corner in Kimberly.

"It will be construction of a signal there will be minor road construction on the free flowing right turn going south into Kimberly,” said Jerke.

While it may be a headache for drivers, it's much needed roadwork to improve traffic flow.
