Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A Richfield native now Ririe resident is showcasing her first book.

April Lewis is the author of The Adventures of Churney. Earlier in the school year, the author sent a letter out to schools asking if they wanted her to come and read.

On Wednesday, Sawtooth Elementary in Twin Falls took the opportunity. Lewis has read her book throughout Idaho, plus Utah and Hawaii. She wrote the children's book after her kids' imaginary friend.

"We always had horses and stuff and we always thought we needed more stuff and mom took it all away so we needed to use our imagination. She took everything away for a whole summer so that's what we played with all summer, our imaginary friend," adds McKenzie Montano, Lewis' daughter.

Lewis' author name is Montano. Her next book, Stars and Stripes is scheduled to be released at the end of the month.
