By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Idaho is celebrating its 150th birthday as a territory this year.

Stricker Ranch southwest of Hansen was the first permanent structure built in what's now Magic Valley. One of the Strickers' descendants points out it's important to look back before you can move ahead.

Curtis Johnson, great-great-grandson of Lucy Stricker, says, " I think it's important to know where we've been, and how we've developed and progressed, the things that have worked, and the things that haven't."

Tune in tomorrow when our own Jay Michaels shows us how the Gem State first got started. That's in part one of his two part series "Idaho's 150th Birthday."
