Idaho Delegation Suggests Greek Yogurt For School Lunchrooms
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Idaho's Congressional delegation wants the US Department of Agriculture to include Greek yogurt in their "MyPlate" nutrition guidelines.
Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch and Congressman Mike Simpson are also asking that schools to be credited for serving protein by having Greek yogurt on the menu for breakfast and lunch served at school. But some students say that may not necessarily be a good idea.
Robert Carlson from Wendell High School says, "It would be a little more sour. It's got that stranger texture that people would be, on first hand, not too enthralled by."
Fellow student Samantha Mize says, "I've tried Greek yogurt before, and I don't really like it. I think it has a sour taste, and it just doesn't taste good. The texture of it, I don't like it either, it's just not good. I don't think they should put it in school lunches, because not many kids like it, and I don't. I just don't think it should be in school lunches."
