'Idaho Gives' Donating To Nonprofits

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV - KTWT-TV ) It’s the first-ever statewide day of charitable giving.

Idaho gives is spotlighting the gem states nonprofits and reaching out to donors old and new.

You can donate to over five-hundred nonprofits statewide, and more than forty locally.

Idaho gives is modeled after highly successful giving days in various states across the country.

Millions of dollars have been raised in a single day.

"The thing that is important to understand is nonprofits benefit every single person one time in their life” said Linda Fleming, Habitat for Humanity.

Marni Porath is part of the rising stars therapeutic riding nonprofit and is excited locals are donating not just to her organization, but many others.

"One-thousand dollars even two-thousand dollars would be fantastic for our program. This is the first year that we've done this in Idaho and we're trying to be part of it and see what it's all about,” said Marni Porath, Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding.

The event largely takes place online, driven by idahogives.org website, where donors can learn about the different nonprofits and donate."

"Our goal is $500,000.000 for five-hundred charities in 24-hours. Each of us have set individual goals ourselves” said Fleming.

Porath believes the diversity of nonprofits and wide range of services... is a critically important sector of the states economy.
