Idaho National Guard Drill Postponed Due To Shutdown
Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The government shutdown is leaving its impact on the Idaho National Guard.
Maj. Gen. Gary Sayler announced the monthly training scheduled for this weekend will be postponed until later in the month.
For the Idaho Army National Guard, drill will be made up the weekend of October 19th and 20th.
But for the Idaho Air National Guard, this weekend's drill has been cancelled. Once the government has been funded, the guard will determine when individuals can make up the drill.
All together, about 3,500 guardsmen are affected by this news.
"And that may have a significant effect if we are called up to serve whether it's on state active duty responding to emergency situation or whether we're called up to for federal duty on an overseas mission. So it's a very tenuous time and it's a little scary at this point," explains Col. Tim Marsano, Idaho National Guard.
