Idaho Power Continues To Battle Outages As Fires Burn In Southern Idaho
Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Idaho Power crews are working to make sure all customers have service even tho some lines are crossing into areas where wildfires continue to burn out of control. At last check, 85 customers are without power in the areas around Prairie and Mountain Home.
Officials with Idaho Power say crews are working around the clock to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible to affected customers and are working closely with the Bureau of Land Management to determine which areas are safe to enter.
Despite Idaho Power’s efforts to maintain vegetation around its structures, many poles and lines have been lost. Idaho Power has pledged more crews, more equipment and more materials to get the power back on.
In the areas of Anderson Ranch Dam, Pine and Featherville, more than 600 customers are without power, and the area’s water supply also has been disrupted. Idaho Power crews have been pulled from some of these areas due to safety concerns.
Five crews totaling 30 personnel are working in the area to assess damage and make repairs where allowed. Downriver from Anderson Ranch Dam, more than 70 structures have burned. Crews are on standby to assess damage north of the dam toward Pine and to begin restoration efforts there.
It's expected that it will take a few days to restore power Idaho Power officials say.
