Idaho Redistricting Commission approves new plan

By Paul Johnson

BOISE, IDAHO (KMVT-TV) The second Idaho redistricting commission today voted unanimously to adopt plan l-93 as the new legislative redistricting plan. Twin Falls county prosecutor Grant Loebs told KMVT news that the newest plan splits the county three times. And one District includes Jerome county which he said is not going to make the folks there happy. The commissioners rejected a plan by Randy Hansen that split the county only once. KMVT also spoke with Hansen who said the votes for his plan was just not there. As far as the changes for the rest of the state, Hansen considers the new map excellent. Twin Falls city will be its own district and then parts of Twin Falls and Jerome will be combined which he feels wasn’t the best choice. The plan meets all of the requirements set forth by the Supreme Court decision, Hansen said. Loebs told us that he plans to meet with the county commissioners next week to discuss what comes next. The commission will have the new map up on their website by Monday.
