Idaho Transportation Department To Suspend Highway Projects For Labor Day Weekend

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Work that could affect travel will be suspended on all Idaho Transportation Department highway construction projects statewide Saturday through Monday for the Labor Day holiday, except in special cases. ITD anticipates that work on most of the projects will start up again in the days immediately after the holiday.

ITD is requiring contractors on highway construction projects to hold off work on any highway, except for normal maintenance, throughout the extended holiday weekend if it could delay travelers. Work can continue on highway shoulders or other areas that won't impede traffic.

Crews may also continue work if they are not on a road that is available to the public, if the road has already been closed and there is a designated detour, in an emergency where the roadway is damaged and needs repair, or on roads with little traffic.
