Illegal Fireworks Crack Down For Next Years 4th Of July
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Starting next year the City of Twin Falls is planning to take a much more aggressive approach in enforcing illegal firework use during the 4th of July.
At Mondays Twin Falls City Council meeting, a discussion was held to determine what direction the city should take in reducing the number of illegal fireworks used within city limits. In the past 5 years, on average, the Twin Falls Police Department receives 42 calls in reference to the use of these illegal fireworks. Monday the city laid the initial steps in cleaning up what they call a very out–date fireworks ordinance. Currently the city of Twin Falls bans the use of any illegal firework... Basically anything that flies in the air and goes boom. But due to the fact that enforcing the ordinance requires more on duty officers the number of actual tickets issued is always very low. On Monday the council asked the police department to come back in a few months with a more update ordinance that would help reduce the use of these illegal fireworks. So starting next summer you might need to think twice about where you buy you’re at home fireworks show. We will have more for you on this issue as the information becomes available. Comments ( |
