Gooding, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A local farm is opening its doors to the public in the hopes of using its animals, gardens and everyday farming experiences as an educational tool.

AJ's Interactive Farm in Gooding is an animal lover's dream with everything from pony rides to bottle feeding baby animals.

The farm was established last year with the goal of providing the young and young at heart an opportunity to learn about animals.

"We try to teach them about the animals and a little bit of their history and what their used for," said Leesa Goeckner, AJ’s Interactive Farm.

Most of the animals on the farm are tame, which provides children with a hands–on opportunity to interact with the animals.

"We try to have it so that they can have hands on like to feed a baby goat or try to milk a goat, or go for pony rides, or we have riding lessons,” said Goeckner.

You'll find all the typical farm animals… cows, goats, pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, and more.

And of course, no farm would be complete without babies.

"The babies seem to be one of the biggest attractions. And, that's something they don't maybe get to see every single day," said Goeckner.

The farm operates in true farm fashion, selling eggs, homemade jam, produce, and some animals.

The interactive side was added just this year.

"We didn't do it for the money. It's just to help us out with feed and you know to have proper care for our animals. The biggest accomplishment is when we have kids out here that just grin from ear to ear," said Goeckner.

It's hard to imagine anything other than smiles at this animal lover's paradise.

Cost of admission to the farm is a dollar per person and you can stay as long as you'd like.
