By Brittany Cooper

Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Cassia County Commissioners met with some representatives Friday to discuss a geothermal project.

AMG National Trust Bank and Walker Ranch Energy LLC are interested in the county because of the resources in the area when it comes to geothermal energy.

Officials say geothermal is a green energy source with a "tremendous future".

"We're trying to use advanced technology to explore that resource in a way that what we find out more about what's underneath the surface, we have a higher degree of probability of finding the best possible production capability from a geothermal perspective," explains Earl Wright, Chairman of the Board, AMG National Trust Bank.

The project is being funded by private investors. Wright adds this could be a significant power source in the community with the potential to draw more business development.
