Jerome City Council Discusses Budget

By Ben Lyda

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The Jerome City Council met this evening to go over the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2015.
City officials were present to answer any questions and discuss options.
The general fund, which covers services such as police and fire departments, is funded by property taxes.
The proprietary fund is raised through irrigation, water, and sewer costs and has no projected increase for the utilities.
City administrator Mike Williams says,
"We're projecting a pretty flat property tax rate for the average home owner in Jerome, we're looking at a $2 increase per year, but we're hoping that when we get back our total taxable value that it will remain totally flat if not decrease."
