Jerome City Council Wrestles With Sewer Bond Amount

By Jay Michaels

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A year ago, Keller Associates took a careful look at the city of Jerome's wastewater treatment plant. They looked at ways the plant needed to be improved, including some backup capacity.

Now the Jerome City Council is trying to decide if they should just do what they need, to meet legal requirements, or expand the plant to add room for increased flows from new and existing businesses.

Jerome Mayor John Shine says, "That's what we're struggling with. Do we go with the minimum? Or do we have some expansion for additional capacity? That's what the council is struggling with, to decide what that number is going to be.

Shine says the Jerome City Council needs to nail down a specific amount for the sewer bond very soon. He says they'll also need to replace some underground collections pipe as part of the project.
