Jerome College Student Is Awarded Beef Scholarship

Nashville, Tennessee ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Cattleman group called CME and the National Cattleman’s beef association have awarded a onetime Jerome resident and Colorado State University student with a $1,000 scholarship. Valene Likley is an outstanding student pursuing a career and a bright future in the beef industry the two groups said today in a news release announcing the winners at a meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Across the nation, there were 25 scholarships of $1,000 each awarded to students who are pursuing careers in the beef industry.
Introduced in 1989, the scholarship recognizes and encourages talented students who will one day be industry leaders, investing in the future and ensuring the next generation has skills to lead the beef industry. In honor of the 25th anniversary, CME Group has awarded 25 students with the Beef Industry Scholarship.

Each applicant must have demonstrated a commitment to a career in the beef industry through classes, internships or life experiences, as well as have written an essay describing a risk confronting the beef industry with their solution to managing that risk.
