"The purpose of today is to really help freshman get comfortable with the building, with knowing where to go and what's expected."
Freshmen wander the halls of Jerome High School searching for their classes this upcoming year.
There are currently more than 250 in the freshman year class.
"Looks like our freshman class this year just based on numbers from last year we knew it was going to be larger this year, probably up 30 to 40 kids in the freshman year as compared to last."
"Our elementary attendance is also increasing. So they are all feed into us it's just being the one high school in town. But I think the community, there has been some growth in the community looking at some new businesses coming in and that brings more kids our way."
The attendance for the entire Jerome High School student body is up from just over 900 students to more than 1000 students.
"So back in kindergarten classes grew and each year they've progressed through the system, so that's one of the reasons we're seeing an increase overall in the district. We just have families moving into the area so it's across the board k–12."
The student body might be bigger this year, but administrators are ready.
"We're so excited for the new school year at Jerome High School. I'm excited to be here as a new principal and we look forward to doing great things."
