Jerome Honors WWII Veterans At Ceremony

By Jay Michaels

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The city of Jerome hasn't had a 4th of July celebration in several years.

But today local residents gathered in the Jerome City Park to observe the holiday. One of the organizers says the event was definitely a community effort to put together.

Dale Ross with the Magic Valley Marine Corps Leagues says, "We have multiple veteran groups, churches, businesses that all came together the last two weeks and made this thing happen. It's really a tribute to our community, and not just a 4th of July celebration."

City Clerk Shonna Fraser read the entire Declaration of Independence out loud. Participants also announced the names of 400 World War Two veterans. They plan to read other veterans' names in future years.

July 4, 2013.
