Jerome Library Offers Patrons A Break

By Jay Michaels

Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The best thing about public libraries is checking out books for free. But if you don't get your book back to the library in time, you'll end up with an overdue fine.

The good news is that right now, the public library in Jerome is willing to cut you a deal. But it's only until the middle of next week.

Patty Metcalf, Director of the Jerome Public Library, says, "So from now through November 21st, we are accepting overdue books and waiving overdue fines. We are also allowing our patrons to pay half of their existing fines and be forgiven for the rest."

Metcalf says since cold weather is here and the holidays are coming up, the library wants to help cut families' costs. She says in addition to getting a break on returning your books, they want them back so other people can check them out.
