Jerome Man in Jail After Report of Shots Fire

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A man is behind bars after an early morning report of shots being fired in northeast Jerome.

24–year–old Benjamin W. Reinke of Jerome was arrested for aggravated assault.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on Monday in the area of Forsyth Park.

Police said 33–year–old Michael Sant was giving a ride home to the suspect.

Suddenly, Reinke produced a handgun and told Sant to follow his directions.

The two eventually parked at Forsyth Park where the suspect got out of the vehicle.

Sant reported that he quickly accelerated away from the scene in an effort to get away at which time the suspect allegedly fired a handgun at him.

The incident is still under investigation.
