Update: Jerome Police Investigate Late Night Shooting
Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV) - A neighborhood in the City of Jerome is recovering from a long night. Shots fired out around midnight, sending one to the hospital for a gunshot wound.
A little before midnight on Thursday, a home in the City of Jerome became the site of a domestic shooting that sent one man to the hospital, and left a neighborhood shaken.
"It seems that there is a history between those that were aggressing the home and those that were in the home ,” said Detective Patrick Wilson, Jerome Police Department. “There was a little bit of knowledge of who they were and had previous contact earlier that day. So this was kind of a targeted issue other than a drive by kind of issue."
The home, located at 218 10th Avenue East, on the northeast side of Jerome was the site of the Thursday nights incident.
According to the Jerome Police Department, a total of three shots were fired... Hitting one man and sending him to the hospital.
"The residents were still there. One individual had been injured, by it appears to be three assailants involved,” said Wilson. “Nobody has been arrested at this point although we do have leads that were following up on."
32 year old Antonio Fregoso was transported to Saint Luke's Regional Medical Center, and is currently recovering from his injuries.
"They said that the bullet did go through and through so they were doing operations on him and believe that he was going to pull through with no problem," said Wilson.
As for the residents of this neighborhood, how are they feeling?
"All I know is what the neighbors have said... they heard it; they showed me the holes in the window,” said Nan Cypratt, Jerome resident. “The one gal... she said she heard somebody really running fast on the back side of her trailer."
As of Friday, The police do not have anyone in custody, but do have a few possible suspects.
"Leads are suggesting that this might be a domestic issue... possibly a romantic relationship was involved in this scenario," said Wilson. "We haven't been able to make contact with them, we are looking for them. As soon as we can make contact, they will be brought in for interviews and we'll continue investigation efforts from that point."
The police department believes the suspects to be Hispanic males in their mid 20's to 30's.
The Jerome Police Department is asking that if anyone has information on Thursday night’s incident they can call the non–emergency line at 324–43–28.
