Jerome Skate Park Ground Breaking

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - After collecting $96,223 in donations to build a new skate park in Jerome, the coalition said they are ready for the ground breaking ceremony. That is scheduled to happen April 7 at 3:30pm in the Jerome North Park. The park is expected to be completed by early summer 2014.
The group formed as a fundraising group in November 2012. The committee is made up of the following community members: Bob Culver, Bryan Craig, Charlie Howell, Dan Kennedy, Darynn Glodowski, Ed Walters, Gary Warr, Jack Johnson, Joe Pacheco, Kathy Markus, Ryan Ellsworth, Ryan Glodowski, and Shonna Fraser.

It took less than a year and a half for the committee to bring the community together the raise the funds to build a skate park. There were multiple fundraising efforts which helped the Jerome Skate Park Coalition raise money for the skate park. A Ford Mustang donated by County Auto was auctioned off and raised $6,960; the Fire Union sponsored the Fire in the Hole Golf Tournament which raised $2,000; and donated Ridley’s points totaled $1,437. Jerome County, Jerome Recreation District, and the City of Jerome each donated $15,000. The Coalition also secured grants from the Idaho Community Foundation, Tony Hawk, and United Way. In addition, many individuals and businesses also contributed much appreciated donations.

The City of Jerome donated a portion of North Park for Skate Park. The Jerome Skate Park Coalition is still accepting donations, both monetary and materials.
