Jerome city officials puzzled where a calcium slime is coming from causing the wastewater treatment system to fail.
JEROME, ID (KMVT-TV) Members of the Jerome city council held a special meeting Friday afternoon to discuss what they're calling a "crisis" at the waste water treatment plant. According to city officials, an unknown substance consisting of calcium slime has appeared in the plant. As a result, officials say the plant's membrane filtration system has been compromised for nearly two months meaning the plant is unable to properly separate and treat incoming flows. City officials say they're still unsure where the sticky, calcium slime is coming from. They say samples have been sent off for testing. In the meantime- city officials say they're working on a system to prevent sewage overflows from getting into the Northside Canal system.
