Jobless Rate Falls in July
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The unemployment rate is improving in the Magic Valley.
The unemployment rate dropped to seven and a half percent last month. That's about a point and a half lower than just a year ago. The Department of Labor says there has been an increase in the number of jobs in the area, but they believe there are other factors involved. "Part of the reason we've had a huge, tremendous drop in unemployment is that a lot of the federal extensions have gone away. And, we feel like that may be putting pressure on people to maybe accept jobs that they weren't willing to accept before," said Jan Roeser, Twin Falls Department of Labor. Chobani will be bringing an additional 500 jobs to Twin Falls this fall, so the Department of Labor expects to see the rate decrease again. Comments ( |
