Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) The number of people collecting unemployment has dropped to a four year low.
Local unemployment rates are mirroring the national trend. The manager of the Twin Falls office for the Idaho Department of Labor says that the number of weeks being claimed, have dropped to the level it was back in 2007, before the Great Recession.
Chris Orders says, "We used to have lines in our lobby, people circled around to get to the front desk. That doesn't happen as much now as it did in the past. So I think that's a good sign that the recession is hopefully coming to a halt."
Orders says some people haven't found work yet and have exhausted their unemployment benefits. That means they're no longer eligible. The local drop could also take into account temporary holiday jobs that have just wrapped up.
