KMVT Station Manager Cites Community Involvement As Very Important

Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Jerome Chamber of Commerce hosted a special speaker at lunch today.

KMVT Station Manager Chris Pruitt told Jerome Chamber members too many TV stations put their reputation in the community in last place. He says ratings, revenue, employees, and the plant and equipment are important. But Pruitt says it's more important to give to the community you live in.

Pruitt says, "Last year between cash and airtime, we gave away to the community almost $1 million. And as far as employee involvement, although we do have a lot more employees now than what we did a couple years ago, we did almost 2,000 hours worth of community service in the area."

Pruitt says Neuhoff Communications now employs 75 people, compared to just over 40 people two years ago. He says the newsroom alone has doubled its staff.

Pruitt also says KMVT helps coordinate the 'Toys For Tots' effort every year, as well.
