Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) Raising awareness in the community to kidney disease was the goal of Saturday's Magic Valley Kidney Walk.

The brand new facility in Twin is opening soon and the kidney walk and fair helps bring attention to it.

Venders from all over southern idaho showed up to support the big event. Many don't realize that approximately one in nine people in the nation suffer from chronic kidney disease.

The whole day was a huge success, and plans are already underway to do it again in a year.

"Next year we plan on doing this in advance about 6 months and hopefully we can get more of the hospitals in the area involved including St. Lukes Magic Valley as well as North Canyon and possibly even reaching out to Cassia and Burley," adds Haroon and Lubna Rashid.

They held free blood pressure checks, cholesterol and glucose checks and more. A bounce house for the children along with snacks and giveaways made the day truly a family friendly event.
