Kids Create Lego Robots

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Robots are pretty cool, and this week 40 kids are teaming up to build their own robots.

The Livewire Robotics Team from Pocatello is hosting its third annual summer camp at the Herrett Center in Twin Falls. Today the kids were learning how to put together the Lego Mindstorms robots. They'll also find out how to program, test, and redesign their creations.

Dirk Stahlecker with the Livewire Robotics Team says, "Basically our goal as a team is we want to spread science, technology, engineering to all people, all ages, all abilities throughout our community as far as we can reach."

These kids will put their robots to the test in a competition at the Herrett Center in Twin Falls Friday at 1:30 p.m. A story time for ages three through eight will be held at 4:30 tomorrow, along with a free robot workshop for adults at the same time.
