Malta, Idaho (KMVT-KTWT)
On your mark..get set...go!
Kids 12 and under from all over southern Idaho participated in the 8th annual kid’s day competition.
Zack Alexander puts together the event each and every year.
"Everybody is a winner up here everybody gets a prize, everybody walks away a winner and yeah its timed so there is a first second and third place but so on that aspect there getting a little bit of that competitive nature in them but at the same time it's all for fun."
Around 45 kids participated this year.
The competition is broken up into skiers and snowboarders...then separated into girls and boys.
Pomerelle hosts this event every year but in spite of it being a completion the kids see it as a way of having fun.
It was really fun and once you get to the top of the hill your trembling, like with excitement to go down.
To culminate the exciting day, the three fastest kids were given a trophy, while others received ribbons.
All in the effort to get more kids involved in the sport.
Get them excited about the skiing sport and get them back skiing and snowboarding, because that's what it's all about
Turning a day of competition into fun.
