La Posada: Doing What They Can For The Holidays
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) With the holiday season nipping at our heels.
The idea of charitable giving is on a lot of people's minds.
Joey Martin for Idaho's First News stopped by one location this afternoon that makes charitable giving a top priority this time of year.
"It’s a work of the community and I'm happy to have a place where we can bring it all together."
Bringing it all together is what la posada ministry is all about.
Every year, during the holidays, this small organization's goal is to make sure that no family go's without for Christmas.
It’s volunteers from the community that make it all possible.
"Every year we've been able to have people, support in the community and were able to put out Christmas baskets. It just all comes together."
Said Sister Rose Mary Boessen from La Posada Ministry.
Around 150 families here in Southern Idaho will receive a basket.
And the items inside range from small to large.
"Our persons receive a clothing gift. And then the children receive toys... and if we have other gifts too, even for the Adults... little extra gloves... whatever we have. And then they will receive some food. And hopefully more than enough for just Christmas day."
And in the spirit of holiday giving... even students from Twin Falls High School got in on the idea of charitable giving.
"It's just humbling to know that some kids don't have what we have that we just take for granted every day of our lives. And its just kind of cool to help them out."
Said Twin Falls High School Junior, Landon Jones.
And for Sister Boessen … she knows that something like this would never come together without the help from a higher power.
"The way it all comes together... I really feel like what god wants to have happen... and the way he wants to reach out to people. I can't do everyone in the community but there is so many agencies... and we all work together."
Agencies working together to make sure no one goes without this holiday season.
