Ladies Twilight League Growing In The Magic Valley
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV )
Golf is a growing sport in the Magic Valley for females.
At the Twin Falls Golf Club, Monday nights are when ladies descend on the course for ladies twilight league.
There are 50 participants in total, a big jump from previous years.
Changing the league from match play to a scramble made a big difference.
Organizer of the league Patty Lee explains, "It was dwindling down to 25 and by getting the scramble going we got more people interested who wanted to come out and play after work."
Golf professional Travis Hofland notes, “It's grown greatly over the past few years. You go out there and if you’re not doing good one day hopefully one of your teammates is doing good.”
The league is for golfers of all different levels, whether they are experienced or beginners.
Says Hofland, "you range from ladies that can play and compete at some of the top levels to ladies that can't hit the golf ball every time.”
But whether you are just starting out or have had years of practice, repetition is key.
Hofland adds, "you can go out on the range if you aren't ready to go on the golf course and when you are ready find a couple ladies and take it on.”
And on Monday's, for most of the ladies, it's all about having a good time.
Lee explains, “You meet so many people and it’s a great spot that you can play all your life.”
On par for a great summer of golf.
The league started on May19th and will run until August 11th.
