Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Now that we're in the middle of Summer...lawn mower accidents tend to be a major problem.
The American Academy of Pediatrics estimates that approximately 17,000 children require care in the emergency room each year because of this type of accident.
Page Geske, Safe Kids Magic Valley says, "kids under 12 shouldn't be allowed to operate a pushing lawn mower and some of the recommendations are children shouldn't drive a lawn mower, a riding lawn mower until age 16."
Officials recommend children younger than six should be kept indoors during mowing. Don't mow in reverse because kids could be around and could cause an accident.
