Lifeguard Requirements At Dierkes Lake
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) With summer just beginning and temperatures on the rise, swimmers of all ages are turning to Dierkes Lake to take a dip and cool off.
As the heat increases, so do the crowds.
The summer hot spot is open to the public.
After one drowning already happening this summer season, what does it take to be a lifeguard at Dierkes Lake?
"The minimum standards we have for our lifeguards here is, they go through the American Red Cross and they get certified as a lifeguard. That teaches the lifeguarding, they get first aid in the class, they learn how to do CPR, and also they learn how to use those AED machines, too," explains Dennis Bowyer, Twin Falls Parks and Recreation.
Lifeguards will be stationed at their posts from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every night until the end of August.
