Local Animal Shelter Teams Up With Project Pooch

By Andrew Reed

Paul, Idaho ( KMVT-TV - KTWT-TV ) The Minidoka County animal shelter has teamed up with the non-profit project pooch.

The organization pairs shelter dogs with juvenile delinquents at the MacLaren Youth Correction Facility in Woodburn, Oregon.

Inmates learn to train the dogs, groom them, and find them a new family.

This month project pooch selected a K-9 from the Minidoka County animal shelter.

"It's extremely important because project pooch does not except every dog in the country, they get thousands of request a year from all over the country. This is the first time they've taken a dog from this shelter and they will continue to look at this shelter, to take other dogs in the future,” said Jeana Allred, Minidoka County animal shelter.
