Twin Falls KMVT-KSVT
"First I was born without stomach muscles it's been really hard."
9 year old Bailey Thomas was born with a syndrome called Prune Belly.
He was born without stomach muscles, but the syndrome also affects the kidneys.
"A lot of kids with the syndrome they say that it's a 1 and 40,000 live births that actually survive and the survival rate past 2 is 20%"
Bailey stayed at a hospital in Utah with his mother.
His step–father John Thomas had to leave and return back to Bailey’s 5 other brothers and sisters.
John wanted his son to still feel connected to the twin falls community.
He posted a picture of his son on the twin falls buy–sell–trade facebook page so residents could comment and send their prayers and support to Bailey.
"When I posted that I expected only 2 to 3 calls a couple comments because it is a private group, little did I know it would blow up as big as it has."
It worked...Bailey received over 50 calls, and the support keeps coming.
The post received over 400 likes and over 200 comments.
Bailey’s time spent at the hospital was tough and at times lonely he still managed to have some fun.
"I also went to the music room, I loved it; I played music I even made a disc and the lady who ran it let me pick an instrument back to my room and keep it over night and I picked the guitar."
Brandy is happy to see her little boy home and going strong.
"Bailey is going to be ten soon so he's really beating the odds and been a tough guy."
His step father couldn't be more grateful for the support of the community.
I would just like to thank everybody for their support, their comments, their love their appreciation and everything they've done for this boy, it's made his entire week."
