Local Businesses Help The Community During The Holiday Season

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Greg Edson works hard at First Federal Bank. But his hard work extends outside of his normal job duties. Edson is trying to make sure First Federal is giving back to the community this holiday season.

"Well the community has needs throughout the course of the year and the Holiday Season seems to be a real needy time throughout the Magic Valley. Looking at the giving that this community did during the Thanksgiving Holiday Need, the needs still persist throughout the year," said Greg Edson.

That's why the First Federal Bank is trying to help restock food banks going into the rest of the holidays and for that matter all year long.

"We're attempting to extend the food drives to help various food banks throughout the Magic Valley. All 11 of our locations have food barrels and we're attempting to collect non perishable food items,” said Greg Edson.

First federal isn't the only business giving back to the community. Dozens of businesses across the Magic Valley are giving back to the community as we head into the Holidays.

"What we're doing is we are just asking our customers to bring in one canned food item non perishable for a 10% discount and up to five cans we're offering to give you a 25% discount,” said Nilton Corujo of ReStore.

ReStore is trying to help restock the food bank at the salvation army, a food bank that continues to dry up during the holidays.

"Our food pantry is currently packing boxes for the Christmas assistance program. We will provide Christmas to probably close to 200 families this year," said Nicki Kroese of the Salvation Army.
