Local Canyon Featured On National Geographic's 'Diggers'

Kimberly, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A Kimberly man known for his rustic painting style will be featured on this week's episode of "Diggers" on the National Geographic Channel.

Gary Stone and his wife Bev own a section of land near the Snake River called Bisbee Canyon. The production crew from the "Diggers" show came and filmed an archaeological dig on the site. It turns out that early Twin Falls photographer Clarence Bisbee had a studio down in the canyon.

Gary Stone says, "We did a dig there. We found nothing real valuable in monetary things, but historically, an old fishing pole and a reel leaning up against a tree about two feet deep. Things like that are just fun."

Other items found on the Stones' property include scales to measure gold, a cleaver made in China, and a box to smoke opium used by Chinese miners in the 1870s. The episode of "Diggers" featuring the Stones will air on the National Geographic Channel tonight and Thursday night at 8:00 p.m.
