Local Children's Author Speaks About New Book

By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) This Wednesday, a local Twin Falls Author spoke to a room full of Rotary Club members to help raise support for her new children's book.

Jennifer Devine–Hatch has spent her life dealing with the physical and emotional scares that came with a life long struggle dealing with cystic fibrosis.

To help cope with those scars growing up, her father made up a fictional character surrounded by a magical fairy named "Scardust".

In telling his daughter this story it helped the young author learn how to better deal with those scars with a positive attitude.

As an adult, Devine–Hatch wanted to retell that story to as many kids suffering with chronic Illnesses as she could.

And that's exactly what she did with her new book entitled "Scardust".

“The character is Jen-Bug, which is me as a child. She’s a child who struggles to understand why scars are left behind after she has a surgery. So her daddy sat her down and he told her the story of the “scardust fairy”, which is like the tooth fairy. But what happens is when a star falls out of the sky, the glitter that falls behind is scooped up by the scardust fairy and is used to sprinkle into your scars in the middle of the night. When you come to an understanding that you scar is beautiful and that you are beautiful because of that scar.” Said Author Jennifer Devine-Hatch

If you would like to learn more about the book or if you would like to purchase a copy of "Scardust".
