Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) On Tuesday a local Buhl Farmer donated $2,500 to one local nonprofit organization.

Russel Visser was selected as a winner in a nationwide program called "America's Farmers Grow Communities".

The program, sponsored by the Monsanto fund, gives local farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 to donate to their favorite cause.

With his winnings Visser decided to donate the money to the Pregnancy Crisis Center here in Twin Falls.

“We are so excited to receive this donation. To get the big donations like this is really cool. We get a lot of 10 dollar and 15 dollar ones which keeps us going, but this just makes it a lot easier. The majority of the money will go towards our parenting and pregnancy programs.” Said Executive Director of the Pregnancy Crisis Center, Marilyn Scott

Visser and Twin Falls County was one of over a thousand counties in 39 states to receive the honor.

This year alone, the Monsanto Fund will invest over 5-million dollars in rural America through the Grow Communities program.
