TWIN FALLS, ID (KMVT) Construction workers in Magic Valley have had it tough the last couple of years, but things have been looking up since last fall.

In October of last year, construction workers broke ground on the Magic Valley Cinema 13. While the outside looks like it's done, there's still plenty of work on the inside before the theater opens on June first. And there are several construction projects going on inside the magic valley mall right now.

Mike Olson, Construction Supervisor for Don Anderson Construction, says, "We demoed Rue21, we're now working on Crazy 8 and Chico's. And we've got the Hallmark/Maurice's expansion, and then the hallway into the new cinema."

Olson says it takes about a week or two to demolish the insides of a mall store, and then they have up a total of six or seven weeks to rebuild the space for the new business that will be coming in.

Olson says, "The mall has got an internal structure, so it's all post and beam. So you can rearrange any wall you want in here, make it bigger, make it smaller, and you don't hurt the structure at all."

Out on the other side of town, the contractors for Agro Farma and Chobani are hammering out the machine room and the cooler section on the south side of the building where the dock doors will be.

Joe Daugherty, Project Manager for Tippmann Construction, says, "We're working around the clock right now, seven days a week to get up to date with our concrete foundations. Steel should be starting next week, so we'll actually have something to look at from the road."

Daugherty says from start to finish, the Chobani project will provide electrical, plumbing, and mechanical jobs while the plant's being built. And then once the Chobani plant opens, that will provide 400 longer lasting jobs for local workers.
