Locals Clean Up Trash Along Canyon Rim
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) With the spring season well underway, that can only mean one thing, the spring clean.
On Saturday morning one local group made sure one of the more heavily used recreation areas, was spotless.
This is the 15th year that the Southern Idaho Off Road Association has taken a day to clean up the north side of the canyon rim.
For years this area was used as a dumping site.
The land is managed by the BLM and it is against the law to dump there.
"The first year that we cleaned up the canyon we brought in over 120 tons of material. Since that time the material has diminished in tonnage but its scattered all over... There is no one spot that you can go and clean it up... It's all over this place," adds Greg Moore, VP, Southern Idaho Off-Road Association.
And it wasn't just the Southern Idaho Off–Road Association, members from the Magic Valley ATV Club, Backcountry Horsemen of Idaho and the Jerome County Sheriff's Office helped and pitched in.
The dumpsters used were donated by Southern Idaho Solid Waste and the loaders by Cesco Equipment.
