Look Out For Insect Invaders!
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A brand new invasive insect has been found in the Boise area.
The Elm Seed Bug is usually found in south central Europe, but this is the first time it’s been seen in the US. The insect eats seeds from elm trees. And while it doesn’t damage trees or buildings, it does have a habit of entering houses in large numbers, first of all to escape summer heat and later to stay the winter. University Of Idaho entomologist Erik Wenninger says elm seed bugs haven’t been spotted in Magic Valley yet. But they’ll be keeping an eye out for them from now on. July 19, 2012. Comments ( |
